Why Buy in Wimberley, Texas
There’s the obvious, the beautiful Blanco River and the Cypress Creek, the lovely quaint downtown square, the exquisite views of the Texas Hill Country from the hilltops, and the peace and quiet that still exists here in our small town. But here are a few more reasons to consider buying your next home here in Wimberley, Texas.
Location, Location, Location
They say location is everything and it surely is here in the beautiful Texas Hill Country! We are close to so many wonderful places. From the hip and busy cool vibes of Austin, Texas, the Live Music Capital of the World, to the culturally rich San Antonio, Texas with so many things to explore and great Mexican food. However, my favorite thing about the location of Wimberley is the closeness to the surrounding small towns like Dripping Springs, the Wedding Capital of Texas, with several new live music venues, along with the lovely towns of New Braunfels and Gruene with rich German roots. And don’t forget the ever growing and tasty Wine Trail from Wimberley, to Dripping Springs and then heading west out to Blanco, Johnson City, and Fredericksburg. You might want to hire a driver for that trip!
So Much To Do
There really is so much to do here in Wimberley. From the fun to the funky. There is the famous Wimberley Market Days which occurs on the first Saturday of the month. The Emily Ann Theatre & Gardens featuring outdoor plays, children’s camps and series and yearly festivals such as the Butterfly festival and The Trail of Lights. Wimberley Players is a volunteer community theater here in Wimberley featuring local actors. Or you can Zipline across the Wimberley Valley to get your thrills and conquer your fear of heights while viewing our beautiful scenery. Enjoy the live music at the restaurants downtown or watch first run movies in the summer at the outdoor Corral Theater. There are summer camps at Rocky River Day camp for your kids or play on the River at the beautiful Blue Hole or Jacob’s well, or get a day pass at 7A Ranch. Visit the art museums downtown and around town, especially the Bootiful Boots. We even have Bingo on Fridays at the VFW hall and an 18-hole public golf course in Woodcreek.
Small business is still alive and well here in the town square and downtown Wimberley. We have that small-town vibe but with a modern flair. There are no big chain coffee shops so don’t come here expecting that, but we do have many small mom and pop local business’ that would appreciate your patronage. The residents, as well as the tourists, like to support our locally owned coffee shops and cafes as well as gourmet restaurants that utilize locally grown produce from the weekly Farmers Market. We still have all the conveniences that a big town offers including WIFI, a unique shopping experience on the square, and fun things to do but on a much smaller and friendlier scale and without the big city traffic.
There are plenty of opportunities for you to get involved in Wimberley. Consider volunteering at the Visitor Center if you are new to Wimberley to learn about all the great things to do here. If you have children, we have some wonderful schools that would love for you to be involved. There is also the Lions Club, they put on the monthly Market Days. We are fortunate to have a very talented group of artists here as witnessed by the fun Bootiful Boots around town and lovely art galleries. The Wimberley Valley Radio Station (KWVH 94.1 on your FM dial and streaming through Wimberleyvalleyradio.org), the Crisis Bread Basket, and Wimberley Adoption Group and Rescue (Wag) are a few of the non-profit organizations needing volunteers for a good cause. Take a look on the Wimberley Chamber of Commerce website (Wimberley.org) for the many groups and opportunities to volunteer your services and make new friends.
